The candidate journey is a phrase coined to describe the process a candidate goes through when they apply for a position. There are six main phases in the candidate journey: awareness, consideration, interest, application, selection, and hire. Across the steps, applicants will interact with your brand, whether that’s directly or by reading your website or researching your company.
Only the successful candidate will go through all six, but all candidates are on the candidate journey to some level. The idea behind this concept is for recruitment teams to figure out where they may lose an applicant’s interest. It provides a strategy for finding where the hiring process needs improvement.
