Hiring bias refers to when people let bias influence their recruitment decisions, whether consciously or not. A hiring bias can exist against many different groups due to age, race, ethnicity, gender, and more. Unfortunately, it is difficult to identify and fix hiring bias as mostly, it is an unconscious process. People don’t realize that they are being discriminatory.
Bias can be formed on first impression when meeting someone, or even from reading someone’s resume. You can figure out whether you have a hiring bias by performing some data analysis on your human resource statistics. For example, looking at the split of genders in your company or the percentage of people of different ethnicities.
