Unconscious Bias

Unconscious bias refers to the subconscious judgements we make. It is a natural process that we don’t even realize is happening, but it is accountable for a lot of discrimination. In the hiring process, unconscious bias must be minimized as much as possible so that it does not influence hiring decisions.
Discriminating based on factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and more are all illegal. We must not hire based on any of these traits. Instead, hiring must focus on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the individual. The same is true in terms of promotions, training opportunities, and how we treat others in the workplace.
