These are five sample questions from the Functional User of Bryq’s AI Fluency (MCQ)assessment, a test for hiring employees who use AI effectively in their day-to-day work. The full assessment covers five skills: AI task strategy, prompting and interaction quality, critical evaluation and validation, ethical and responsible use, and workflow integration and output quality. At this level, questions focus on using AI for routine work, from writing structured prompts with context to evaluating outputs critically and building AI content into professional deliverables. Each question presents a realistic workplace scenario and asks which approach fits best, with four options to choose from.

Ethical & Responsible Use

Question

An AI assistant drafts performance feedback for two team members. It describes a female employee as “emotional” and a male employee who showed the same behavior as “passionate.” What should you do?

Select your answer

Rewrite both to describe the specific behavior in neutral terms, and check the rest of the feedback for similar bias.

Change “emotional” to “passionate,” so both employees are described with the same positive word.

Keep the wording, since the AI chose it based on patterns in large amounts of professional writing.

Delete the descriptions from both reviews, and send the rest of the feedback unchanged.

WHY IS THIS THE CORRECT ANSWER

AI can reproduce biased patterns from its training data, such as describing the same behavior differently depending on gender. Replacing loaded labels with specific, neutral descriptions of behavior makes the feedback fair and actionable. Checking the rest of the feedback catches bias that may appear elsewhere.

AI Task Strategy

Question

You need to analyze 300 anonymized open-text responses from an employee survey and present the main themes to leadership next week. How should you use the AI assistant?

Select your answer

Have the AI group the responses into draft themes, then check a sample against the raw comments and refine the themes yourself.

Ask the AI to pick the ten most representative comments, and build the presentation around those quotes alone.

Paste in all the responses and present the AI’s list of themes to leadership, since it has read every comment.

Read and categorize all 300 responses manually, since survey analysis is too important to involve AI at all.

WHY IS THIS THE CORRECT ANSWER

AI is good at grouping large volumes of text quickly, but it can merge distinct issues, miss nuance or overstate minor points. Spot-checking its themes against the raw comments keeps the time savings while making sure what reaches leadership reflects what employees actually said.

Prompting & Interaction Quality

Intermediate

Question

You asked an AI assistant to draft a policy FAQ for staff. The draft is accurate, but it’s written for HR specialists rather than general employees. What is the most effective follow-up prompt?

Select your answer

“Rewrite this for employees with no HR background, in plain language with no jargon and answers of two or three sentences.”

“This isn’t right. Please try again with a different approach to the FAQ.”

“Simplify this so it’s easier for everyone in the company to understand.”

“Make it shorter, since long answers are harder for most people to read.”

WHY IS THIS THE CORRECT ANSWER

Effective feedback names the audience and the specific changes needed, so the AI knows exactly what to adjust. “Simplify this” points in the right direction but leaves the reading level and length open. A vague rejection gives the AI nothing to work with.

Critical Evaluation & Validation

Intermediate

Question

An AI assistant summarizes a 40-page contract and states that it “can be terminated by either party with 30 days’ notice.” You plan to rely on this in a business decision. What should you do?

Select your answer

Find the termination clause in the contract itself and confirm the notice period and any conditions.

Accept the summary, since termination terms are standard and unlikely to be misreported.

Rely on the summary, but note in your decision that the notice period comes from an AI summary.

Ask the AI to quote the exact clause, and rely on the quoted wording if it matches the summary.

WHY IS THIS THE CORRECT ANSWER

AI summaries can drop conditions or misstate details, and contract terms often include exceptions that change their meaning. Checking the clause in the source document is the only reliable way to confirm it. Even a quote produced by the AI needs to be matched against the original.

Question

You’ve combined several AI-drafted sections with your own analysis in a report. Before submitting it, what is the most important quality step?

Select your answer

Read the full report end to end, aligning terminology and tone and checking that each AI section supports your analysis.

Run a spelling and grammar check, since the AI-drafted sections are already well written.

Ask the AI to review the whole report and confirm it’s ready to submit.

Submit it as it is, since each section was checked when you wrote or generated it.

WHY IS THIS THE CORRECT ANSWER

Sections drafted separately often use different terms, tones and assumptions, and those differences only show up when the report is read as a whole. A full read-through makes sure the AI content fits your analysis and that the document reads as one coherent piece. Spelling checks and AI self-reviews miss these issues.
