Validated hiring means using assessment methods and selection criteria that have been statistically tested and shown to predict job performance. Validation involves tracking whether candidates who score well on assessments also perform well after hire, and whether results differ meaningfully between strong and weak performers. There are several types of validation: criterion validity (does the assessment predict job outcomes?), content validity (does it measure job-relevant skills?), and construct validity (does it measure what it claims to?). Organisations using validated hiring make selection decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions. Validated approaches reduce bias, improve quality of hire, and create legally defensible hiring processes that meet EEOC and OFCCP compliance standards.
