These are two sample questions from Bryq’s Ethical Judgment assessment, a soft skills test for hiring people who make sound, principled decisions at work. The full assessment covers two skills: ethics and integrity. Each question describes a workplace dilemma and asks which response is most appropriate, with four options to choose from.
Ethics
Question
You’re evaluating two vendor proposals and realize one vendor is run by your sibling’s business partner. Their proposal is genuinely the strongest. What should you do?
Select your answer
Disclose the connection to your manager and step back from the final decision.
Recommend the other vendor to avoid any appearance of favoritism.
Disclose the connection, but keep leading the evaluation, since their proposal is the strongest.
Evaluate both proposals strictly on merit without mentioning the link, as it’s only indirect.
WHY IS THIS THE CORECT ANSWER
A conflict of interest doesn’t have to change the outcome to damage trust: what matters is that it’s disclosed and managed. Declaring the connection and stepping back lets the decision be made impartially.
Integrity
Question
You realize that a figure in a client report you sent last week was wrong. The error slightly overstated the results, and the client hasn’t noticed. What should you do?
Select your answer
Tell your manager, then send the client the correct figure with a brief explanation.
Send the client a corrected version of the report without pointing out the change.
Tell your manager and let them decide whether to inform the client.
Leave it, since the difference is small and a correction could undermine their confidence.
